Our experts physically inspect, log, and remove every single data storage device – from hard drives, to solid-state drives and external storage devices – in every piece of decommissioned equipment. All drives and storage media are destroyed using processes compliant with R2, NIST 800-88, IEEE and other leading standards. You receive full documentation to verify total data elimination, including a Certificate of Destruction and a full e-waste materials report to keep track of your sustainability footprint.

How do you ensure minimal disruption during the decommissioning process?

Our team works around your schedule, offering on-site, off-site and passive collection methods to avoid peak operational times. Passive collections include our tech bin option, with collection occurring as soon as you request it.

What certifications and standards do you comply with for data destruction?

We adhere to industry-leading standards, including R2, DoD 5220.22-M, NIST 800-88, IEEE, ISO 27001, and GDPR, ensuring secure and compliant data destruction. Certificates of Destruction are provided for every project along with a Certificate of Recycling and a full e-waste materials report.

What happens to the equipment after decommissioning?

Depending on your needs, equipment can be securely inspected for data (with all data storage devices destroyed,) and refurbished hardware for resale and return on value for your team. Or, hardware can be recycled for reuse in new electronics, or in compliance with all standards and regulations.

How do you track and audit equipment during decommissioning?

We scan every device to log and reconcile serial numbers, ensuring every piece of equipment is accounted for. AIT will always provide detailed audit reports if you select asset management services.

Do you offer on-site data destruction services?

Yes, we are able to provide on-site degaussing and shredding services to ensure data is securely destroyed before equipment leaves your premises.

Absolutely. Our team is equipped to handle the removal of raised floors, cabling, server racks, and other infrastructure components as part of the decommissioning process.

How do you ensure the secure transport of decommissioned equipment?

We use sealed, GPS-tracked vehicles, thorough LOTO (lock-out tag-out) methods, locked data cages and maintain a strict chain-of-custody to ensure the secure transport of all equipment to our facility for sorting, data destruction, processing and recycling.
